At Moruroa on 12 September 1966, the French explode a 120 kiloton bomb at 600 metres, despite unfavourable wind conditions.
- 3610 km away the radioactive fallout clouds from the bomb are intercepted by a rainstorm and fall on Samoa.
- It is measured there by the National Centre for Radiation Science.
